About Craig Thatcher
I started playing drums at the ripe old age of two and have been teaching for over 30 years. I have participated in Elementary school through University level music programs.
I started playing professionally in clubs while in
the tenth Grade and earned full music scholarships to
Eastern Arizona College and Arizona State University.
After playing in local Jazz and Latin bands in Phoenix, AZ, I went on the road with reggae band Morningstar and toured the country for two years. I moved to Santa Barbara in 1993. Since then, I have toured internationally with various groups and performers. I teach at SB Drum Lab, run a percussion ensemble (BOOM Chaka), record and gig around town, and enjoy my teenage sons.
My teaching studio is the most state of the art studio you will find anywhere. It is equipped with two complete drum sets, a full backline of instruments and PA for full band rehearsals. We have high speed Wi-Fi, air conditioning, practice pads and drum videos in our lobby so you can warm up before your lesson. I also have video cameras, a MacBook pro and several programs for recording, playing music games and creating music.
